Selvaggio Blu Logistical Support

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We would like to emphasize that the Selvaggio Blu is the most challenging route in Italy. There are no trail markers, making it easy to get lost among canyons and forests, and it is essential to have strong climbing skills to tackle the rock walls, as well as knowledge of rappelling techniques.

It is crucial to be equipped with all necessary gear and know how to use it properly. If you are not completely confident in your orientation skills in such a demanding environment, or if you don’t feel prepared to manage rappels, we recommend joining one of our organized tours, where a professional guide, experienced in the mountains, will ensure safety during all critical sections.

Selvaggio Blu

THE AUTHENTIC TOUR

Before proceeding, we recommend that you carefully read our article on how to do the Selvaggio Blu independently, and plan your adventure in the finest detail.

First step: the dates

The first choice to make in the calendar below concerns the number of days. Those who are trained in the mountains, can orient themselves easily, and have solid climbing and rappelling skills, can complete the Selvaggio Blu in four days.

However, we always recommend planning the route over five days, to have time to enjoy the views, take breaks by the sea, and avoid tackling the route with the anxiety of having to finish each stage quickly.

Go to the calendar and select the first and last day of hiking.

Second step: daily deliveries

The price varies significantly based on the number of deliveries

Two deliveries per day

With two deliveries per day, you can send us your bags with spare clothes, tents, sleeping bags, camping gear, etc. In the evening, we will deliver your bags and food, and in the morning, we will collect the bags and trash.

  • PRO: walk with light backpacks, greater agility, and energy savings
  • CON: more expensive service
  • Required: 30-liter backpack, 60-liter bag, food boxes

On the morning of departure, you will need to meet our team at Santa Maria Navarrese to drop off your bags and food boxes. The bags should contain:

  1. Spare clothes, tent, sleeping bag, mattress, ropes, and gear for rappelling (required on the last two days)
  2. Stove, pots, cups, plates, cutlery, biodegradable detergent.

The food boxes must be labeled with the destination camp (e.g., Us Piggius, Portu Pedrosu, Su Tasaru, Ololbissi) and should contain food (freeze-dried, canned, or long-life), water, other beverages, and bags for separated waste (dry, plastic, glass + aluminum, wet).

In your 30-liter backpack, you must carry at least: packed lunch, water, harness, helmet, via ferrata kit, ropes, carabiners, slings, swimsuit, and towel.

One delivery per day

With one delivery per day, our team will meet you every evening at the chosen camp to deliver the food boxes and collect the trash.

You will need to carry, in a large backpack, clothes, the tent, sleeping bag, cooking gear, ropes, and all the rappelling equipment.

  • PRO: affordable service
  • CON: heavy backpack on a difficult route
  • Required: 60-liter backpack, food boxes

On the morning of departure, you will meet our team at Santa Maria Navarrese to drop off the food boxes, which must be labeled with the delivery camp (e.g., Us Piggius, Portu Pedrosu, Su Tasaru, Ololbissi). In the boxes, you can include food (freeze-dried, canned, or long-life), water, other beverages, and bags for separated waste.

In the Us Piggius box, you can place the harness and via ferrata kit (for Bacu Tenadili and the Masadorgittala via ferrata). In the Su Tasaru box, place the ropes and rappelling gear (for the last two days).

In your 60-liter backpack, you must carry at least: packed lunch, water, harness, helmet, via ferrata kit, ropes, carabiners, slings, swimsuit and towel, tent, sleeping bag, mattress, jacket, spare clothes, stove, pots, cups, plates, cutlery, and the previous evening’s trash.

Third Step: Secure Deliveries

Every evening, we will meet at the camp at a set time (5:30 PM or 6:00 PM). We are aware that the route can be challenging, especially for first-time hikers, and that you may arrive very late.

If you don’t arrive on time, our team will wait for 30 minutes, after which they will leave the luggage at the camp, unattended, until your arrival.

To avoid leaving your luggage unsupervised, we offer a secure delivery service: our team will wait for you until you arrive at the camp. This service has a fixed cost, which depends only on the number of days.

Note: the secure delivery service involves exclusive use of the vehicle, so no discounts or refunds are available in case of punctual arrival.

Fourth Step: Roast Suckling Pig

How can you resist roast suckling pig, a symbol of Sardinian cuisine?

One evening of your choice, we will take care of everything: we will arrive at the camp before you to light the fire and start simmering the suckling pig. The menu includes, in addition to the succulent pig, typical cheeses and cold cuts, fresh vegetables, and the unmissable cannonau wine.

Fifth Step: Grocery Pickup

To ensure a more varied diet, not limited to canned or freeze-dried foods, we offer a grocery service. Every evening, we will deliver the fresh items you’ve requested.

We can shop for you at the supermarket, from the greengrocer, and from the butcher, selecting the best products from our region.

The service has a fixed cost, in addition to the price of the food purchased.

Initial Delivery and End of Itinerary

INITIAL DELIVERY

On the morning of your departure, we ask that you hand over all your personal belongings to our team at Santa Maria Navarrese.

You can also leave your car in one of the many free parking lots.

From Santa Maria Navarrese, we will give you a ride to the starting point at Pedra Longa (about 30 minutes), or you can choose to start from here on foot (about 90 minutes).

END OF ITINERARY

At the end of your itinerary, which we hope will be Cala Sisine, we will pick you up with a boat to bring you back to the port of Santa Maria Navarrese.

If you decide to withdraw before reaching Cala Sisine, we will pick you up with a boat if you can reach the sea, or with a 4×4 on the gravel road that connects Baunei to Cala Sisine.

In case of bad weather, we will pick you up with a 4×4.

Luggage dimensions

Each suitcase must weigh a maximum of 18 kg

We recommend a 60-liter bag per person, and a small bag to contain the tent. It’s better not to put the tent with the clothes, as it might be wet and full of dirt in the morning.

Although we will keep your luggage sheltered, and protected from potential rain, we recommend using waterproof bags and storing your clothes inside sealed dry bags.

Tent hire

If you choose the option of one delivery per day, the rental tent will be delivered to you on the first evening, allowing you to hike light on the first day.

The tent must be returned in good condition; any tears in the fabric or breaks in the tent poles will incur a flat penalty fee of €20.

Water canisters

We can provide you with a water canister every evening to use for washing yourself, as well as for cleaning pots, plates, and cups.

Cool box

If you want cold drinks, we can purchase them for you and store them in a cooler bag, which we will deliver to you every evening.

Charging power-banks

We can collect your power banks in the evening (or in the morning, if you choose two deliveries) and return them fully charged the following evening. Remember to include the USB cable and charger as well.
