Canyoning in Sardinia

Canyoning in Sardinia is a fantastic way for everyone to explore nature and have a fresh adventure, merging mountain and water activities. Many of us grow immensely tired of laying on a hot beach all day during the summer. Luckily Sardinia has more to offer than just sand and salty water. There are many canyons in the island, the ones you see listed below are short selections of the best ones, and the ones that can be run even during the peak of Summer.

You don’t need to be buy equipment to come on a canyon with us, don’t need to be too fit and don’t even need to have any experience. We provide experienced guides and all the necessary equipment for your enjoyment and safety.

Canyoning tours open to families and beginners too

I have never done canyoning before, what does it involve?

Canyoning means walking a riverbed from top to bottom, using harnesses and ropes to abseil its vertical walls. On wet canyons such as Riu Pitrisconi, we welcome beginners and families on a great adventure, jumping into large pools of water and enjoying the unbelievable freshness.

We descend both dry and wet canyon, depending on the season and group preferences. The majority of wet canyons in Sardinia dry out in May/June when rains stop. This is why during the summer we mostly descend Riu Pitrisconi or dry canyons such as Bacu Padente and Codula Fuili.

The canyon Codula Fuili is located near the town of Cala Gonone and is one of the easiest DRY canyons in Sardinia.

Riu Pitrisconi

The Canyon Riu Pitrisconi is by far the most enjoyable and refreshing summer activity in Sardinia.

Bacu padente is a series of abseils on a thin ridge above the canyon, leading from mountains to the sea.

Do I need any special equipment?

We provide all technical equipment for canyoning, from wetsuits to harnesses and canyoning rucksacks.

  • On wet canyons, you shall have swimwear and trainers, plus a change of clothes for when we get back.
  • On dry canyons, it is sufficient to have comfortable clothes and hiking shoes.

In order to reserve wetsuit of your correct size, we will ask to provide the height and weight of all participants.

Can anyone do canyoning?

Yes, if one can swimwalk on uneven terrain and has no fear of the height.

We welcome people who never tried before and families with kids as young as 10. There is no need for athletic preparation, but you shall be able to swim and walk on very uneven terrain.

Our guides will take care of all rope manoeuvres, so you don’t need to have any skills in abseiling. You can trust our expertise and rely on our lead.

Is there always water?
Most of our canyons have plenty of water in the springtime but dry out in the hottest months. The canyons we have chosen for our activities have the most stunning views and can be enjoyed all-year-round. The Riu Pitrisconi is our best canyon, as it has permanent water flow. It only takes a 2 minutes’ walk to reach the entrance and from there we will be jumping and abseiling on a long sequence of deep pools of water. The Riu Pitrisconi is an easy and adventurous canyon suitable for beginners and families too. Other canyons, such as Codula Fuili, are always dry and can be enjoyed walking through astonishing landscapes and abseiling into their narrow gorges. The canyons below are just a part of the many we have in Sardinia, and we can widen our offers upon request. Some canyons suffer drought and thus not available during the hottest months.
