VIA FERRATA DELLA REGINA
BOOK NOWVia Ferrata della Regina
The Via Ferrata della Regina is one of the easiest and most accessible Via Ferrata in Sardinia. It is a perfect itinerary for families with kids and a starting point for those who never tried a Via Ferrata before. The Via Ferrata della Regina is located on the north side of a large crag, in shade for the best part of the day and thus accessible also during the hottest months.
Although easy, the Via Ferrata della Regina is truly fascinating and offers a unique view of the lake Temo and the gentle hills that link Sassari to Alghero. Starting from the little hamlet of Monteleone Rocca Doria it takes only 20 minutes to reach the Via Ferrata, passing from the old tuff quarry and the base of the large crags above which the hamlet was built.
The Via Ferrata della Regina starts with a funny filet, which is a sort of cobweb made of steel cables, and a long vertical ladder. This may be the hardest part of all, where our guides will provide precious help to those who may fear the height. The Via Ferrata also includes an exciting 15 metres Tibetan bridge and passages on panoramic ledges.
The total length of the itinerary is about 500 metres, of which about 300 are equipped with cables and a total vertical gain of about 60 metres. The Ferrata lasts about 2 hours and has a ring itinerary, ending just where it starts.

How difficult is the Via Ferrata della Regina?
Anyhow, it still is proper via Ferrata and not an adventure park.
The Via Ferrata della Regina starts with a leaning web, leading to a vertical section of steel steps. Climbing the steps a little higher the wall becomes overhanging and definitely harder. This initial section is the hardest of the whole via Ferrata. It requires good arm strength to climb up the steps and, most especially, to change the carabiners while holding the cable single-handed.
What do I need for the Ferrata?
You should wear mountain boots, or at least approach shoes, and comfortable clothes suited to the season.
Bring 1 litre of water per person and some snacks. Each participant should also have a backpack to carry the water and the equipment we will provide.
